General Introduction

Climbing will improve your confidence, health, and general state of being. It involves a combination of balance, flexibility, endurance, strength, breath, and focus. It is a great mental and full body workout while being very fun. This wonderful sport is one that can be shared by the whole family. Become a part of this encouraging, friendly community and explore your personal depths.

In addition to climbing, Asana is now bringing other like-minded activities and classes that bring many of the same parallel challenges as climbing does through moving meditation. Meet Your Instructors

Katie Ponozzo

Katie was born and raised in northern Idaho and started studying dance at a young age. She came to Boise to pursue her dancing at Boise State University where she earned her dance degree. It was at a dance performance when she first saw an aerial silks dancer perform. From that moment, she knew that it was something she wanted to try. After taking a trip to Portland to take classes, she bought her first set of silks and began training. That was over six years ago and since then she has been able to train with aerial artists in Seattle, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles. Currently Katie performs aerial silks for the Red Light Variety Show and Off Center Dance Company. Katie brings a fun and accepting attitude to her aerial classes with an emphasis on safety and technique.
Mykelle Walton

Based in Southern Idaho, Mykelle Walton is an aerial artist constantly pushing the boundaries of what she can do and combining it with the strength, grace, and artistry of a cirque style aerialist to create one-of-a-kind experiences about the questions of life, philosophy, and physics.

Mykelle has been teaching gymnastics for over a decade, and aerial acrobatics for three years. She has been an acrobat for over 23 years and has always been addicted to hanging from anything that she can get her hands on.

After her career as a level 10 gymnast, Mykelle picked up aerial arts and dance as a full-time passion in 2014 and has performed professionally ever since. She has graced the stage for theatrical productions such as Tarzan, Vagina Monologues, and Jesus Christ Superstar and has been highlighted at events like TEDxBoise, Discovery Center of Idaho’s Annual Gala, Konnexion Music Festival, Chalk the Bloc Climbing Competition, and Magic Valley Folk Festival.

Using modern dance, Mykelle has contributed works to productions at the College of Southern Idaho, Orpheum Theatre, and done other independent choreography around the Northwest.

Capoeira

Asana is proud to offer one of the only Capoeira classes in Idaho! Capoeira is a unique martial art originating in Brazil in the beginning of the 16th century. It combines multiple elements to include dance, acrobatics and music.  It consists of quick, powerful and complex maneuvers that provide excellent improvements to strength, endurance, body awareness, and coordination. Each class will have adaptations to satisfy beginners and advanced users alike!
